Once I removed the ip address so the list was empty (which is what I have on another vista machine for comparison), localhost started working again. In some cases, the HttpModules can return errors for extensionless URLs. The files that it is complaining about do exist, but for some reason IIS does not have access to them. But after using it I changed the settings back to wht they were.
