Within the last 6-7 months I also noticed it getting very hot, and it would shutdown. but seems to me like there sum sorta of obsturction, ne idea how i get to the fan? This was confirmed with a M1004 error code (a Dell overheating code) that tells you to call their service centre. Dell M1004 Error Message Removal You are amazing for posting the fix. Undo the screws and use the plastic gripper to pull the heatsink straight up and off. You have made a lot of Dell owners happy.
