IHO Will try the reboot thing, but doesn't it seem kinda silly and non-productive to reboot your computer everytime you want to burn a project?! i finally discovered when I attempted to burn it on an alternate dvd burner that it must be the internal superdrive... So the drive space you need is: at least 10% of its total capaciy + 5 GB. I did a search for iDVD, deleting all files that are not project (over 14,000 files!!) , then re-install from i-Life '09.
