Ok, it seems to be something transitional. If CHKDSK makes modifications to a filesystem, it can sometimes write that data to a .txt file (maybe it's a .log file), but where it puts that I can't remember. There should be some other sockets someplace else. Upon the next reboot the problem has gone away - and has not come back since.
