Anyway: I installed the Intel Matrix Storage Manager which IS compatible with my hardware (even though my hardware was very old - from 2004). Checked all connections and reinstalled HDs. Any guidance or experience from those of you with so much more experience than me is much appreciated! The Intel drivers only work on Windows. I backed everything up and I'll clone the dying drive to an identical replacement.
