If you are really the kind of markup nazi that I am, you'll notice that the p tag doesn't allow any block-level tags within it, and both LI and UL are If I change the to something else, like , then that works as well. About this Entry: You are reading "Internet Explorer and the "Unknown runtime error"", an article posted on 1 June 2009. Works correctly on Netscape.
BUT: if I change it to (whether or not I give the anchor any parameters) then IE complains about "Unknown runtime error". Thanks a bunch. Didnt rwalize i had a form within a form till I found this. http://colvertgroup.com/unknown-runtime/ie6-innerhtml-unknown-runtime-error.php I agree completely with you.Voracity, unlike what you have said, the CSS doesn't alter the semantics of the tags.
You can modify it so that you will be able to make it as you want. It's possible that Internet Explorer is refusing to set the innerHTML because you'd end up with DOM elements with IDs that aren't unique, whereas Firefox and Chrome aren't being quite so If instead of using innerHTML you use the appropriate DOM calls to build the HTML tags etc properly then you will have slightly longer code but it will be guaranteed to IE is very picky about this and Firefox is not.
